Greg Reynolds reigned supreme
What another beautiful day on Austin Lakes!
The wind was n/e to n/w to w at 5 to 10 kts and as usual very testing with swirling winds and dead spots. We had the dedicated 8 sailors arrive to do battle as Donks and co are over in South Africa for the world champs.
On the day Greg #90 had 6 wins, Steve #42 had 4 wins with Rosco #78 taking 2 wins before unfortunately the sail winch decided to go on strike. Total of 12 races for the day.
Tragedy struck Phil #257 from race 1 and 2, but a quick fix and he was back for race 3 onwards.
The racing was very competitive and we need to have a little more understanding of the rule relating to buoy rounding and the 4 boat distance must be called beforehand and acknowledged and then the trailing boat must keep clear. We all know this rule but if you are not close to the action it is hard to make a decision when it comes to the close rounding. We are all competitive but we are here to enjoy. Let's enjoy.
The winner today was Greg Reynolds followed by Steve Lee and a well earned third by David Jones.
Only news from Donks is that the wind is strong in SA and down to C and D riggs. WOW!!
Thanks to Kevin and all who helped to set up and dismantle. It is much appreciated.
