David Jones continued is fine form to hold off close chase from Graeme Elliott and Greg Reynolds
Today we had a wonderful fleet of 9 × DF95 boats head on out to Austin lake to do battle.
Conditions were a warm 27°C with South Westerly breezes around 5-10 knots.
It was mid A-rig weather with full sunshine and it felt like the season had changed towards summer so we returned to a break after every 3 races. The other thing was the breezes were strong enough for us to complete the course in around 10min so we crushed the 13 races in an afternoon.
As it was a Wednesday handicap, we spread the skippers based on previous handicap results and it was close. David Jones kicked off the fast starters with a win which put him back with the crowd but he did back up with two more wins during the afternoon. Greame Elliott continued to sail well and scored two wins and several places to be the fleet back marker by the end.
It was good to be home sailing with this group. I will suggest sailing in South Africa was exciting and powerful in 30 knot winds and waves but gliding over a smooth lake is so very satisfying.
