DF65 handicap results from 22nd July, reported by Andrew Donkin. I've been away for a few weeks so I'm catching up on posting reports. These reports are also linked to our club's sailing results, so they're important to post. Reports are always posted oldest to newest but it seems Facebook orders them by some other metric in our group timeline.

We could not have wished for more comfortable conditions at this time of year. Mid Winter and we were getting sunburn due to full sunshine but also breezes from the south east. OK the wind did fluctuate from easterly to southerly but that is normal and the strength altered from brisk top of A rig to calm holes with no wind. All of us did not care, we were just enjoying the warmth and fun of handicap racing in our DF65 boats.
It was great to welcome back Mark Robins to the fleet. (He took a short break to build a new castle in Mandurah, and had to work double time to pay for it). Mark admitted he had to polish off the build up of dust and clear the spiders out, but after the batteries were charged the boat seriously just flew. Mark sailed very well and has lost nothing during his break. Well sailed mate.
It was a smaller fleet than normal with just 8 boats heading on out to race our handicap format regatta. Kev spread the fleet around on the whiteboard so new skippers had good advantages to score a race win and for the older dogs to stay enthused.
We had 6 individual race winners with Donks scoring 4 race wins and Mark Robins scoring 2 race wins as did Lewis Arndt with 2 wins. The racing was actually really tight with Greg, Mark and Donks holding their own match racing event BUT out in front the other five were quite even. Steve Lee just led the way but around him was Lewis, Phil and John Wade. They almost had their own regatta as well.
Big thank you to Kevin who had an issue with the rudder servo so offered to PRO the rest of the event, cheers Kev.
Lastly, I was sent a newspaper article regarding a small boy and his mate launching their new model yacht into a nearby canal. He promised his parents they would be home within the hour but a gust changed the boat's direction and it headed to the other side of the waterway. Something that he still has issues with his new DF65 every now and then. The skipper involved was our treasurer Steve Lee and it happened when he was just 9 years old. It took him 6 hours to get the boat back.
