Okay the breeze was light before the first race, 4-5 knots from the SSE, but miracles happen and it increased to 6-11 knots for the remainder of the day which made for excellent conditions for our DF95s. The racing was keen and close all day with few problems and was a credit to the skippers.

dogman-20260624223048-35638b.jpgBack to the breeze... on checking it was direct from the South Pole but it did not stop John Wade FROM WEARING SHORTS and it did not stop a few hearty souls from enjoying comradeship after sailing.

The course, set up by Ross, was about as perfect as you can get for the S-SE breeze with no wind shadow. The course was in the NE quadrant.

David Jones was sporting some very nice new sails. We had Ross drop off the gear then he had to scamper to supervise a tradie. We had a visitor from Albany, Peter Truphet, who joined the fleet with his fast DF65. He is looking at moving to the area.

Good to see Phil Plowman, Greg Reynolds (2), John Wade (2)and Graeme Elliott (2) had good wins. In actual fact the finish reflected the competitive competition with 10 skippers having wins.

guys-20260624223110-c66e65.jpgThe results will be interesting with many in with a chance for the podium.

[Editor's note: the cream rose to the top with Graeme "Cream" Elliott taking the day, just pipping Mark Lovelady by 0.2, while Kev took third away from Bob Carr]

Outer markers later in the day were Mark Lovelady and Kevin Matthews.
